Chlor-X is a unique formula designed to remove salt contamination from car bodies and underbodies, whether you’re preparing to paint or simply incorporating it into your regular wash routine. It effectively eliminates corrosive road salt and airborne contaminants.
Dry salt crystals cling tightly to steel surfaces, making it essential to use a treatment that can penetrate behind the salt and lift it away. While power washing alone is insufficient, even boiling a salt-contaminated steel sample for one hour removes only about 90% of the salt. Therefore, to completely remove this hard, crystallized salt, a special surfactant is required to get behind the crystals and release them from the surface. Our formula achieves this at a molecular level, providing a solution not previously available on the UK market. Additionally, Chlor-X effectively removes salt from concrete and most other surfaces.
Methods of Application
Chlor-X Salt Remover is available in three formulations:
- Chlor-X DTS (Direct to Surface) – A ready-to-use formula.
- First, wash the surface with Rustbuster Safer Degreaser.
- Then, apply Chlor-X DTS directly to the metal surface using the trigger spray bottle.
- After allowing it to sit for 10 minutes, rinse it off with a hose.
- Chlor-X 201 – A standard 1-liter bottle.
- Begin by washing the surface with Rustbuster Safer Degreaser.
- Next, fill Chlor-X into a hose-end dispenser and set the mixture knob to maximum.
- Hose down the steel intended for painting; the Chlor-X 201 will automatically mix with the water. For regular car washes, adjust the mixture knob to the minimum setting.
- Allow it to sit for 10 minutes, and then hose it off.
- Chlor-X 100 – A 100% concentrated formula.
- For power wash systems, dilute Chlor-X 100 at 100:1, or dilute at 500:1 in blast cleaning systems.
- You can also mix Chlor-X 100 with Rustbuster Safer Degreaser at a ratio of 1 part Chlor-X 100 to 10 parts Safer Degreaser.
- Afterward, place the mixture into the dosing bottle of your power washer.
- Let it sit for 10 minutes before hosing it off.
