Rustbuster T-Wash Mordant Solution for the Treatment of New Galvanised Surfaces Before Painting
Newly galvanized surfaces often have a greasy film and surface contaminants that affect paint adhesion, unlike weathered galvanized surfaces that have endured approximately two years of weathering. Failing to prepare new galvanized surfaces properly can lead to paint system failure.
Rustbuster T-Wash is a mordant solution used to neutralize hydroxides and carbonates on galvanized surfaces. This preparation significantly improves paint adhesion.
Follow these steps to achieve the best results:
- Clean and degrease the surface using Rustbuster SP10 Tank-Kleen.
- Rinse the surface with fresh water.
- Once dry, apply Rustbuster T-Wash with a brush.
- After a while, the solution will turn the surface black or dark grey, indicating that the reaction has occurred properly.
- Rinse with fresh water and allow the surface to dry before applying paint, such as Rustbuster EM121 Epoxy Mastic Primer/Finish or Custom 421 Epoxy Primer.
Re-clean any areas that do not turn black with Rustbuster SP10 and re-treat with T-Wash.
